Nakuru is the capital city of Nakuru County. Its one of the largest cities in Kenya. It was once named as the cleanest town in Africa. Sadly , that was taken away by increased population and urbanization.
Climate wise, Nakuru experience climate similar to the one in Nairobi. It lies 1850 meters above the sea level. Being within the great Rift Valley, Nakuru enjoys temperate climate throughout the year. But with climate change, this has changed slightly.
Nakuru is a fast growing city. It was ranked first in Africa and fourth in the world after a study conducted by United nation in 2011. Main source of income comes from agriculture, manufacturing and tourism.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Nakuru is the home to the amazing Lake Nakuru. Lake Nakuru is an important part of lake Nakuru National Park. This park is a paradise haven for a wide range of birds. It’s the best place for a birdwatchers to spend some quality time. The park also provide home to various wildlife species.
Menengai Crater

Menengai crater is located in Nakuru. It’s a dormant volcano. Those of us who love hiking, this is the place to be. There are various caves found here. Some of these caves are used by the locals for prayers, so mindfulness should be observed. There’s also a forest that provide a conducive environment.
Hyrax Hills Prehistoric Site and Museum

This site is located within Nakuru town. It was gazetted as a National Monument in 1943 by the Kenyan government. It is a renowned archaeological research area as well as a reference point for prehistory investigations of East Africa. The public have been offered some sites for public viewing.
This site allows you to enjoy nature trail, camping site, picnic site, tortoise pit and a picturesque view of Lake Nakuru.
Egerton Castle

This castle is located within the Egerton University ground. It’s a mansion that was built in 1952 by Lord Maurice Egerton. The mansion has a wonderful story behind it as a result of love-hate. For the whole story just click here.
