Yes, this was me yesterday,
I was totally frozen and could not be able to shake it off for a couple of minutes,
I wasn’t frozen due to low temperatures, I wish I was,
But I was frozen due to fear and shock,
I could not say a word or see straight,
Everything happened so fast and I still have that moment replaying in my head.
Just like any other weekend,
I didn’t expect traffic,
So I didn’t leave home early on my way to work,
Seems everyone else had the same thought,
And we ended up assuming the same thing,
Which was a major cause to the troubles I encountered.
Low traffic tend to encourage road users to enjoy some speed,
With the thought that they are few on the road,
Hence no harm to enjoy being faster while they can,
Yet still, it’s the worst idea to have,
Road users should be careful all the time,
No assumptions should be made while using the road.
My first accident that i witnessed was a public matatu that had hit a personal car from behind,
The personal car was a few minutes away from a zebra crossing,
He had probably stopped to allow pedestrians cross the road,
And it’s clear the matatu had no idea on top of not observing the safe distance between vehicles while driving,
Luckily no one was hurt but the personal car was damaged pretty bad.
Just when I thought that I will get to work with no more bad news,
My fear and shock muscles were put in trial,
It was just a few minutes away from my destination,
Few minutes that scared the hell out of me,
Everything happened so fast (within a blink of the eye)
A small personal car hit us very hard from the side,
Due to the high-speed it was on it rolled over immediately,
While we got pushed to the road side.
I have never be shaken this much,
I could not move nor say a word,
My whole body was frozen and I literally started feeling cold,
Mark you, the sun was very hot at that moment,
Everyone rushed towards the upside down car,
Life is precious and everyone understands that.
Within few minutes the lady who was driving the car was removed from the damaged car,
I didn’t have enough strength to go near the scene,
But from what they said, she was gonna be alright,
Her car was completely destroyed to a point that,
Every part was apart,
One minute that carried heavy weight with it,
I shivered all way to work and even developed a head ache,
A head ache that didn’t even respect painkillers.
I now understand in-depth how the freezing happens,
How people claim their inability to do anything,
Even simply move their body while exposed to a life-threatening danger,
It’s an experience that I wanna never want to experience in my life again,
And I wouldn’t want anyone else be exposed to it either,
I wondered to myself,
If I felt that horrible, how did she feel as her car turned upside down,
It’s my hope and prayers that she will be alright soonest.
Stay safe
