Do you guys remember the story I told you from the news , whereby they was this arrogant guy who was threatening to sue an environment activist for accusing them of destroying forest. He arrogantly proclaimed that he had a license to do so hence a right to the forest. Karma has finally caught up with them. Yeah, not much has been done yet but there’s hope of a bright future for trees in our country Kenya.
Its like our vice president read my mind, he didn’t care if you have a license to cut the trees, whether they were government forests or community forests , he has officially stopped logging for the next three months so as to allow an audit for our forest cover. That’s the voice we needed to hear. The member of parliaments did a good job to point out the importance of evaluating the country’s forest cover and possibly banning logging. May they remain true to their words and come up with strict rules that will protect the remaining of our forest cover.
The “big fish” that still destroys trees and consider themselves untouchable, your days are numbered. Firing the committed rangers for pointing out your dirty deeds will come back to you and bite where it hurts the most. You keep using the poor to administer your evil deeds and pretend to be on the nature side. How do you guys sleep at night knowing very well how you are jeopardizing our future. Even trees are God’s creature and He surely protect those who have no one to speak for them.
Dry taps have started to become a reality, famine is affecting more places as days goes by and crops are not doing very well since the rainy seasons are no longer there as before. The results of our nature neglect is slowly kicking in and attracting more attention from everyone. Nature can never be price tagged, Cape town residents can tell you more about that. Despite being a well developed city, dry taps could not care any of that. Maybe something could have been done to save the situation but it was never done. There’s still hope but they will have to do it the hard way. Lets not allow such a situation to befall any other city in the world.
It has been real, nature has given us the final warning. Lets give it highest priority and forget the greed for money that causes more problems than solutions. We are naturally good at inventing , lets invents alternatives for wood and plant plus grow more trees. One of my wise friends once told me that we took our responsibilities to nature the wrong way. As humans it is our duty to protect the nature, its not a job or a favor but that’s why we are here in the first place. We are here to protect nature then the rest can follow. And if we all handled it in that perception, we wont be where we are right now. So I think it will be better to make conservation education one of the basic subjects to be taught at school.
Dear saw millers and wood businessmen/women, I have nothing against you guys but a just a very humble plea for you to give nature a second chance. Nature has created great wealth for you at least be courtesy enough to offer some returns. Nature built you very well indeed and grew your business but it can not be able to do that anymore. Be on the front line to save it from its staring death threat because it needs more than you need it. There’s an interesting proverb that advises us not bite a hand that feeds you.
Ban on logging should be supported by everyone everywhere in the world. Lets do it guys.
